With the sudden change of weather, we feel obligated to do a change of wardrobe and get out our seasonal items to wear. Now that spring and summer are finally here, it is time to remove all your woolen jumpers, coats and winter boots, and leave some space for summer dresses, shorts, tank tops and beautiful sandals. And what a better moment to organize the wardrobe and decide what is time to leave behind and either recycle it or donate it.
Follow these tips to make your wardrobe organization easier and quicker. You will also be able to gain space in your closet to see what you really need and don’t need, and what is missing in your wardrobe for future shopping.
- When should you do the wardrobe switch?
To always have available your seasonal clothes, make sure you do at least 2 wardrobe changes per year; one before winter and one before summer/spring when the weather gets hotter. There is no exact date for each wardrobe change, as it will always depend on how hot or cold the weather is where you live in.
- Classify your clothes before storing them
Firstly, empty all your wardrobe by getting out all your clothes, hangers and organizers. It is time to decide what you want to keep, what you want to donate or what is not even worth donating due to its status and you might want to recycle it or throw it away. Always think on how long it has gone by since you last wore that item and decide if you really need it or it is just getting more dust in your wardrobe and stealing space for other clothes.
Leave your closet completely empty for the next step. Store your clothes for next season.
- Clean your closet
Once your closet is completely empty you should do a thorough clean to remove any dust and dirt that has been left behind. It is way easier and quicker to clean it now that it is empty than once you fill it again with clothes. Remove the dust and dirt with your vacuum cleaner and then pass a damp cloth to remove any remains.
The scent of your closet also counts, and it will help you maintain your clothes fresher for longer. Spray every two to three days your favourite scent of Voyêtre Home & Linen Spray to enjoy a pleasant sensation every time you open your closet.
- Organize drawers
We should only have in our closet the items we will be using during the season. We recommend organizing your clothes by type and colour, this will make it easier for you every day when deciding what to wear and how to combine it. If you have hangers or boxes you no longer need this season, put them away with the rest of the clothes so they do not occupy space in your closet.
